TNT, the value brand of PLDT mobile wireless subsidiary Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), has bagged a gold award for its viral SIM Registration video, “Mother,” at the prestigious AdFest 2024, touted as Asia’s most celebrated regional creative festival.

Mother,” which is part of a series of public service reminders encouraging subscribers to register their SIM, shows a woman who is struggling to prove her identity to her skeptical family as she spews out lines commonly used by scammers.

The video, which TNT produced with GIGIL Philippines and Arcade Film Factory, bested over 200 entries from all over the region in the Film Craft – Script category of AdFest’s Lotus Awards.

“This prestigious award is a result of a huge collaborative and creative effort by our internal teams and agency partners, who took to heart TNT’s mission of providing ‘saya’ or fun to subscribers even in conveying important public service reminders,” said Alex O. Caeg, Head of Smart Consumer Wireless Business.

“We also offer this recognition to our 34-million strong TNT subscribers, who comprise the Philippines’ biggest mobile brand, and serve as our inspiration for coming up with relevant services and impactful campaigns,”  Caeg added.

Launched in April 2023, TNT’s SIM Registration campaign videos quickly racked up over 100 million views across social media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, with viewers organically sharing them for being “creative,” “funny” and “unskippable.”

Within just 10 days since the videos dropped,  over 7 million subscribers registered their SIM, proving the campaign’s effectiveness.

TNT’s gold Lotus Award at Adfest 2024 adds to a string of local and international recognitions for the viral SIM Registration campaign videos,  which includes being shortlisted at the  New York Festivals 2023 Advertising Awards, winning Silver at Boomerang 2023 Awards, and bagging Crystal Awards at Korea’s MAD Stars 2023, among others.

TNT is powered by Smart, which delivers the Philippines’ Best 5G Coverage and Best 5G Availability, according to independent analytics firm Opensignal.

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) announced on November 23, 2023, that nominations are now open for the new batch of national artists. The Order of National Artist (ONA), established in 1972, recognizes Filipinos who have made significant contributions to the development of Philippine arts and letters.

Past recipients of this prestigious honor include renowned figures like painter Fernando Amorsolo, writer Nick Joaquin, musician Levi Celerio, actress Nora Aunor, fashion designer Salvacion Lim-Higgins, and filmmaker Lino Brocka, among others, totaling 81 individuals from various fields.

The call for Whang-Od’s inclusion as a national artist has been ongoing for years. Advocates argue that her cultural contributions, particularly in the traditional art of tattooing (mambabatok), deserve recognition. Despite this, NCCA Chairman Victorino Manalo clarified that Whang-Od’s craft falls under the Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA) and not the National Artist Award. The GAMABA is the National Living Treasures Award, acknowledging contributions to the country’s cultural heritage.

Whang-Od’s nomination for the GAMABA has been in discussion since 2015, with ongoing deliberations by the committee. The debate centers on whether her work, primarily in body art and tattoos, qualifies under the Visual Arts category.

The NCCA has expressed appreciation for Whang-Od’s contributions, previously honoring her with the Dangal ng Haraya Award in 2018 and the HIYAS Award for Indigenous Art by the CCP in September 2022.

Addressing criticism about gender bias in National Artist Awards, Victorino debunked such notions, stating that the selection process focuses on the body of work and its national importance. Dancer and National Artist for Dance Alice Reyes echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that talent is genderless in the rigorous and demanding selection process.

To nominate and learn more about the process, interested parties can visit the NCCA website.

MANILA, Philippines— LionHearTV.net brings back #RAWRAwards2018 on November 14, Wednesday, 6pm at Le Rêve Pool Party Venue and Events Place. The annual award-giving body is backed up by the Filipino blogging community, particularly the entertainment blogs spearheaded by the aforementioned site.
A total of 25 awards are at stake in this year’s RAWR Awards. Dubbed as a spectacle of entertainment celebrities; apart from a 250-strong support from the new media practitioners (bloggers) across the country, PR groups are all in support as well as the respective fans of the listed nominees.
The awards are grouped under three major categories—Lion, Cub and Pride.
See list of categories and the corresponding nominees:

CUB

Bibo Award
The award clearly indicates being active or maybe the brightest child star the public has come to endear with. The recipient of the award has this innocence that can be described as ‘breath of fresh air’; he or she has shown dedication at work despite his or her young age.
Nominees are Xia Vigor (The Kids Choice), Baeby Baste (Eat Bulaga), Chunsa Jung (Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids Edition), Elia Ilano (Sana Dalawa Ang Puso), Leanne Bautista (The Cure), Yuan Francisco (Victor Magtanggol), Justin James Quilantang (Playhouse) and Sofia Pablo (Onanay).
Favorite Bida
Bida means the lead—it can refer to either the star on a television show or in a film. The Favorite Bida of is someone who gave a remarkable performance. Though being a protagonist back then are the victims and who allow the antagonist to just abuse him or her; today, the Bida knows how to fight and still earn the sympathy of the audience.
Nominees are Coco Martin (FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano), Kathryn Bernardo (La Luna Sangre), Enrique Gil (Bagani), Alden Richards (Victor Magtanggol), Barbie Forteza (Inday Will Always Love You), Erich Gonzales (The Blood Sisters), Marian Rivera (Super Ma’am), and Bianca Umali (Kambal Karibal).
Favorite Kontrabida
Any Bida will not be as effective and convincing if his or her kontrabida fails to deliver. The said award is given to the antagonist who made the audience hate them because of the guts and he or she can steal the spotlight from the lead if given the chance.
