GMA Network soars even higher this 2017 as it delivers a new roster of trendsetting and pioneering programs that will surely excite and captivate the hearts of Kapuso viewers.

Produced by the GMA Drama Group, these shows are top billed by only the brightest, hottest and up-and-coming Kapuso actors and actresses in Philippine show business.

First on the list is the original primetime soapMeant To Be. This romantic-comedy series revolves around Billie, portrayed by Barbie Forteza, a struggling millennial who meets four guys with different nationalities: Ken Chan as the Chinese-Pinoy Yuan, Jak Roberto as the Pinoy Macoy, Ivan Dorschner as the Fil-British Ethan, Addy Raj as the Indian Jai. All four boys will fall in love with Billie. Joining them in Meant To Be are Manilyn Reynes, Sheryl Cruz, Tina Paner, Keempee de Leon, Sef Cadayona, Mika dela Cruz, Stephanie Sol, Zymic Jaranilla, and Ms. Gloria Romero. Under the helm of LA Madridejos with Renei Dimla as head writer and Hazel Abonita as Program Manager, Meant To Be premiered last January 9. The primetime series is also a clear winner in nationwide ratings after consistently beating its competition during its pilot week.

For its Valentine offering, the Kapuso Network brings to light the much awaited soap Destined To Be Yours starring the phenomenal love team—Alden Richardsand Maine Mendoza. In the story, Alden breathes life to the character of Benjie, a hardworking and charming architect who wants to acquire a piece of land owned by the family of Sinag played by Maine. Showcasing a story of love, triumph and forgiveness is the original Afternoon Prime series Legally Blind. Kapuso actress Janine Gutierrez tackles her most challenging and mature role as a rape victim who gets blind and who will become a lawyer to seek justice from her perpetrator. She will be paired with two of the Network’s talented leading men: Mikael Daez, Rodjun Cruz. Adding starpower to the Afternoon Prime soap areChanda Romero, Lauren Young, Marc Abaya. Legally Blind is under the helm of actor and TV director Ricky Davao with Christine Novicio as head writer and Redgynn Alba as program manager.

Another intriguing drama that will surely make the viewers’ glued to their televisions screens is the remake of the successful TV series Impostora. It is also the first GMA-produced TV drama adapted by a foreign country. This soap tells the story Nimfa, an ugly street vendor who willingly undergoes surgery and complete facial reconstruction to pretend to be Rosette, a wealthy and beautiful but unhappily married wife seeking to escape her husband. This highly controversial drama is top billed by Kapuso versatile leading lady Kris Bernal and playing opposite her are versatile actors Rafael Rosell and Ryan Eigenmann. Impostora is under the direction of Albert Langitan with Denoy Punio as head writer and Anthony Pastorpide as the program manager.

GMA Drama unveils another original show using the elements of interview, dramatization, actual videos and photos withCase Solved. Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes is tapped to host this newest docu-drama as he presents to the viewers the know-hows of crime prevention. Under the helm of Direk Albert Langitan, Loi Landicho is the head writer while Nini Matilac is the program manager.

TROPS (Tropa), will be your newest daily noontime habit before Eat Bulaga. It’s topbilled by Eat Bulaga’s Baes! namely Kenneth Medrano, Kim Last, Jon Timmons, Tommy Penaflor, Miggy Tolentino, and Joel Palencia.

Some of these Baes already appeared on GMA Shows, Kenneth is the grand winner in the “That’s My Bae” segment. A native of Cebu City, he can act, sing, and dance. Kenneth has appeared in one of Eat Bulaga‘s Lenten specials and was part of the morning series Calle Siete. While Miggy’s talent in dancing has become his passport to a career in show business.

Dave Bornea joined GMA Shows like Mr. Pogi, Star Struck, and now he’s currently a member of GMA Network’s newest boyband “One Up.” Meanwhile Lindsay De Vera was a model and actor that already appeared in some GMA shows like “Kapit Lang” and “Pari Koy.”

Dingdong Dantes returns to primetime via GMA’s Alyas Robin Hood

Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes is back on TV as he headlines GMA Network’s newest series Alyas Robin Hoodbeginning September 19. The series dramatically showcases an inspiring truth that in each one of us is a hero, able to be of service for the welfare of other people.

A combination of action, drama, adventure and comedy, Alyas Robin Hood revolves around the life of Pepe de Jesus (Dingdong), a man who finds absolution in doing service to his community. Known to be a prodigal son-turned-bar passer-turned-urban poor advocate, Pepe was framed up for the murder of his own father and was put behind bars. Believed to be perished after a violent prison break, Pepe survives and searches for the real culprit on the devastating death of his father and at the same time he redeems his own name under an assumed identity, Alyas Robin Hood. With the help of a few people he trusts, Pepe as Alyas Robin Hood mediates to seize crimes from happening, thus helping the oppressed as he slowly finds out the truth about who his real enemies are.

Dingdong will surely hook the viewers onto their TV screens as he embodies Alyas Robin Hood while doing action-packed scenes. Meanwhile, the Kapuso actor shared his excitement to depict his new character that aims to give inspiration. “Maganda ‘yung feeling na nagiging part ka ng pag-solve ng isang problem sa lugar ninyo, tumutulong ka sa community. Pero ang mas mahalaga, siyempre, ay ‘yung paghahanap sa katotohanan. I think, isa ‘yun sa main na gustong ma-achieve ng character sa kuwento—malaman kung saan nagmula, sino ang may kagagawan ng lahat. Medyo komplikado.”

Apart from portraying another striking performance, he also shares his enthusiasm to work with the country’s esteemed actors to date. “Ang gagaling ng mga kasama ko dito. Mula sa international best actors and actresses, talagang mga mahal ko sa industriya ang makakasama ko dito. Understatement ang excited. Sobrang inspired ako ngayon.”

Alyas Robin Hood also stars Kapuso actress Andrea Torres and 2013 Miss World Megan Young.

In the beginning of Pepe’s journey, he will meet the love of his life, Sarri Acosta (Megan), a pediatrician who shares the same values with him in helping out the less fortunate. However, because of the murder allegation, Pepe is shunned in Sarri’s life.

Along the way, he also encounters Venus (Andrea), who tries to help him in his quest for justice and truth. Pepe, in return, will intuitively make her change her point of view when it comes to stealing and being selfish.

Joining them are respected TV and movie actors: seasoned actress Ms. Cherie Gil as Maggie Balbuena, Dean’s mother who is a powerful PR practitioner who dreams of lording over the city by supporting the political aspirations of his son; award-winning actorSid Lucero as Dean Balbuena, a corrupt politician who is responsible for the death of Pepe’s father and Pepe’s arch rival with Sarri; and 2016 Cannes Film Festival Best Actress Ms. Jaclyn Jose as Judy de Jesus, Pepe’s understanding mother.

The show also features the special participation of multi-awarded actor Christopher “Boyet” De Leon as Jose de Jesus, Pepe’s father who from early on tried to teach his sons to avoid conflicts.

Playing equally vital roles in the series are Paolo Contis as Daniel Acosta, Sarri’s older brother and an honest and incorruptible police officer; Gary Estrada as Caloy, Pepe’s older brother; Dennis Padilla as Wilson Chan, a casino businessman who is also Maggie’s partner in her dream for his son’s political career; John Feir as Armando Estanislao, a businessman who deals in seemingly shady business but is actually legit and generous; Tanya Gomez as Adelita Mayuga, a corrupt barangay captain who is one of Wilson’s pawns in the city; Gio Alvarez as Jerico Sumilang, Pepe’s best friend; Lindsay de Vera as Lizzy de Jesus, Pepe’s niece and a daughter to Caloy and Judy; Dave Bornea as Julian Balbuena, Maggie’s second child and Dean’s half-brother andCaprice Cayetano as Jessica Sumilang, Jerico’s daughter. Completing the powerhouse cast are Rey “PJ” Abellana as Leandro,the father of Venus and Ces Quesada as Cha, the morally challenged vice mayor of the city.

Alyas Robin Hood is under the helm of director Dominic Zapata. He said that he is enthusiastic on how Alyas Robin Hood will leave a mark on Philippine TV. “For this show, we always push the story deeper. The eight celebrities competing to become the country’s first Superstar Duets Champion are actor and comedian Mike “Pekto” Nacua; actor and model Joross Gamboa; theater actor and comedian Jerald Napoles; singer and TV host Rita Daniela; singer and actress Denise Barbacena, TV actress and comedienne Divine Grace Aucina, actor and songwriter Nar Cabico, and comedian and host Jeffrey “Osang” Soliven.

GMA Afternoon Prime presents “Sa Piling Ni Nanay,” starring Katrina Halili, Mark Herras and Yasmien Kurdi

GMA Network launches its newest Afternoon Prime series Sa Piling Ni Nanay beginning June 27 after Hanggang Makita Kang Muli.

Another original and intriguing family drama, it tackles the story of a surrogate mother and her selfless love for the daughter she carried.

Sa Piling Ni Nanay features the much awaited reunion of StarStruck Season 1 alumni Yasmien Kurdi, Mark Herras and Katrina Halili.

Yasmien is Ysabel, a single mother to her loving daughter Maymay. She works as a personal assistant to Scarlet, a socialite, to be played by Katrina. However, Scarlet cannot bear a child so she convinces Ysabel to become their surrogate. She agrees to surrogacy because she needs money for the treatment of Maymay’s bone marrow transplant.

But half-way through Ysabel’s pregnancy, Maymay unexpectedly dies from an accident. Due to depression and loneliness, Ysabel breaks the surrogacy agreement, flees with the baby and decides to raise her as her own, calling her Maya in memory of her daughter who passed away.

Mark, on the other hand, portrays Jonas, a bachelor who secretly has feelings for Ysabel. But his love for her turned into hatred when she took away Scarlet’s child who is also the grandchild of his aunt Matilda.

With Ysabel and Scarlet’s battle to win Maya, who has the real rights over the child? The mother by blood or the mother who gave birth to her? Is blood thicker than love?
