ABS-CBN Kantar Ratings in October 2017
The Kapamilya network outshined its rival network in every part of the country, particularly in Mega Manila where it registered an audience share of 36%, beating GMA’s 34%, in Metro Manila where it scored an average audience share of 41%, compared to GMA’s 27%, in Total Luzon where it recorded an average audience share of 43% versus GMA’s 34%, in Total Vizayas as it hit 53%, beating GMA’s 28%, and in Total Mindanao as it registered 50%, while GMA only got 33%.
Multinational audience measurement provider Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,610 urban and rural homes that represent 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population.
“FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” kept its reign as the most watched program in the country as it hit a monthly average national TV rating of 39.9%. Cardo’s (Coco Martin) mission gets even tougher now that his enemies have joined forces to put him down, gripping more and more viewers every night.[post_ads]
“TV Patrol” (34.4%), on the other hand, brought relevant news stories and public service to Filipinos nationwide and is still the most preferred newscast in the country, while its rival program “24 Oras” only managed to record 20.8%.
Hit primetime teleserye “La Luna Sangre” (33%) also brought excitement to viewers after Angel Locsin’s character Jacintha Magsaysay was revealed as a vampire with a mission to defeat the Supremo.

The talented kids with heartfelt stories of “Little Big Shots” (31.3%) also continued to mesmerize viewers every Saturday and Sunday night.
Meanwhile, Ivy Aguas’ death and Lily Cruz’s (Maja Salvador) resurgence in “Wildflower” (28.9%) bolstered the show’s ratings and became a huge trending topic online last month.
Viewers were also treated to values-oriented stories and whimsical tales in “Wansapanataym” (27.5%) and the true-to-life and inspirational stories in “MMK” (27.1%).

Recommended For You:

Kapamilya comedy shows “Home Sweetie Home” (27.1%), and “Goin’ Bulilit” (24%) also brought fun and entertainment to families nationwide.
Meanwhile, the Kapamilya network also performed well across all time blocks, particularly in the primetime block (6PM-12MN) where it recorded an average audience share of 50%, or a 21-point lead over GMA’s 31%. The primetime block is the most important part of the day when most Filipinos watch TV and advertisers put a larger chunk of their investment in to reach more consumers effectively.
ABS-CBN also enjoyed high national TV ratings in the morning block (6AM-12NN) with an average audience share of 39% versus GMA’s 32%, in the noontime block (12NN-3PM) with an average of audience share of 47%, compared to GMA’s 33%, and in the afternoon block (3PM-6PM) where it recorded 42% versus GMA’s 39%.

GMA Network has retaken the lead in nationwide TV ratings, resulting from its stronger performance in all timeblocks, according to data from the industry’s trusted ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.
For the period September 1 to October 13 (with October 9 to 13 based on overnight data), GMA overtook its closest competitor in National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM) with an average people audience share of 38.3 percent, besting ABS-CBN’s 37.6 percent.
GMA likewise remained the undisputed ratings leader in viewer-rich Urban Luzon, which accounts for 77 percent of all viewers in urban TV homes in the entire country, with 43.4 percent, ahead of ABS-CBN’s 32.3 percent.
In Mega Manila, another traditionally strong area for GMA representing 59 percent of urban viewers nationwide, the Network kept its total day ratings advantage with 46.1 percent versus ABS-CBN’s 28.2 percent.
During partial October (October 1 to 13), GMA particularly showed a stronger following on weekday evening primetime in NUTAM, where its people audience share reached 40 percent against ABS-CBN’s 37.3 percent.
Moreover, in comparison with ABS-CBN, more programs from GMA landed in the partial October list of 30 top-rating shows in Urban Luzon with a total of 18.
The well-loved Kapuso telefantasya Encantadia grabbed the number one spot in the Urban Luzon chart, while emerging as the highest-rating Kapuso program in National Urban Philippines.
The recently launched Kapuso primetime show Alyas Robin Hood, primetime newscast 24 Oras, award-winning comedy program Pepito Manaloto, multi-awarded news magazine show Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, weekly drama anthology Magpakailanman, and weekend primetime offering Hay Bahay! were also among the top 10 programs in Urban Luzon during the covered period.
Other top-rating Kapuso programs during the period include 24 Oras Weekend, Ismol Family, Sunday PinaSaya, Wowowin, Someone to Watch Over Me, Eat Bulaga, Imbestigador, Superstar Duets, #Like, Dear Uge, and Sa Piling ni Nanay per Nielsen data.
Nielsen data is gathered through a greater number of sampled homes nationwide in comparison with other ratings service providers. Nielsen has a nationwide sample size of 3,500 urban and rural homes.
As the leading ratings service provider, Nielsen TV Audience Measurement service boasts a total of 31 clients/subscribers including 8 local TV networks, 4 regional clients, 2 blocktimers, and 17 media agencies.
GMA subscribes to Nielsen along with TV5 and Aksyon TV, CNN Philippines, Net 25, Ebiquity-Faulkner CBN Asia and TAPE Inc., and major advertising and media agencies such as Dentsu Aegis Network (Carat, Mediaforce Vizeum, Dentsu), GroupM (Mediacom, Mindshare, MEC and Maxus), Omnicom Media Group (OMD, PHD and M2M), Zenith Optimedia, and Starcom Mediavest.

Viewers and netizens nationwide got hooked on “Pangako Sa ‘Yo’s” episode last Friday (Oct 30) that showed an intense confrontation scene where Yna (Kathryn Bernardo) defended Amor (Jodi Sta. Maria) and finally revealed the truth about the businesswoman’s rape years ago.
According to data from Kantar Media, the episode recorded a national TV rating of 34.5% versus GMA’s “Beautiful Strangers” that only got 16.9%. It saw Yna finally revealing that Claudia (Angelica Panganiban) and Diego (Bernard Palanca) plotted Amor’s rape so Eduardo (Ian Veneracion) would finally be convinced to leave Amor. Viewers were also glued to the story last night (Oct 2) that the episode acquired a national TV rating of 36.5% versus the rival program’s 16.9%.
As emotions ran high in the Friday episode, netizens also posted their thoughts on Twitter and made the hashtag #PSYPaglantad the number one trending topic on Twitter worldwide.
With the truth now revealed, Eduardo finally left Claudia. Meanwhile, Angelo is convinced that Amor returned to the country to get revenge against his family.
What will now happen to Eduardo and Amor, now that he is determined to make it up to the love of his life for hurting her in the past? How long will Claudia and Diego be able to keep the truth from Angelo? Could Angelo and Yna’s broken relationship be further damaged?
