Riding a Motorcycle Versus Driving: 3 Reasons Cycling is Better |
Being one with the open road, cruising through traffic seamlessly, being less of a drain on the ecosystem…there are dozens of reasons why riding a motorcycle is better than driving. However, when pressed to pick the top three, most bikers will give the same answers:
They Make the Commute Bearable
Let’s face it—the nine-to-five not only has you mentally worn down, but it’s also taken a toll on your bank account. Whether your commute is five miles or fifty miles, all that stop and go can get expensive. Stop spending your hard-earned dough at the pump and downsize. Motorcycles get far better fuel economy than even the most fuel-efficient sedan.
Aside from the nominal benefit, when you drive a motorcycle, you can zoom past traffic without a problem, meaning you can get to work earlier and with less frustration. Then there’s the parking aspect. Long gone are the days of spending fifteen minutes each morning searching for an open spot. Just park between Jerry from accounting’s minivan and the wall of your building.
They Contribute to Your Health
How many things do you do each week that you actually enjoy? Chances are, not many. Even your weekends are chock-full of obligations that you may or may not want to participate in. Driving a motorcycle isn’t just a way to get to and from work efficiently—it’s a way to do something you enjoy during every last spare minute you’re afforded. Even if your commute is only ten minutes each way, that 20 minutes of you-time is enough to improve your mental health considerably.
They Make You Look Cool
Though this is a fact that most bikers like to hide, the truth is that motorcycles are cool—or, at least, they stand out. If you’re tired of being lumped in with Jerry from accounting and all the other minivan drivers in your community, get a bike.
