Heart Evangelista discusses her experience with in-vitro fertilization (IVF). She described it as “one of the toughest, challenging times” of her life in the September issue of L’Officiel Philippines, where she appears as a fashion icon in Bvlgari pieces.

“With IVF, they inject you with fertility drugs, which was incredibly difficult and unpleasant; I got three injections a day for two weeks.”

“They were able to gather the perfect boy and perfect girl after harvesting and the processes that followed.”

With this plus her miscarriage in 2018, she experienced an existential crisis as she reflected on why she felt compelled to have children in the first place. Heart recalls herself questioning, Is it safe for me to have a child?

“I have a baby boy and a baby girl on the way, but I’m at the point in my life where I’m asking myself, ‘Do I want a child because I want a child?’

‘ or ‘Do I want a child because my environment or culture requires me to have one?’

Heart has advised people to follow in her footsteps after making her own decisions and through with IVF treatment since it “buys them time.”

She reassures him, “The embryo is present whenever they decide to have a child.

“There is no time limit, whether you decide now or in five years. Furthermore, the procedure is available in the Philippines, not simply abroad.”

Heart expresses her appreciation to her husband, Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero, throughout the interview.

Chiz is a really kind person, but we’re extremely different in that he’s really conservative and I’m a little more modern.

“Perhaps it’s because of our age difference, but what I enjoy about him is that he tries to be as supportive as he possibly can.”

For the time being, Heart is convinced that only nice things will come her her.

“Even if everything ends out to be amazing, which I’m sure it will—it may not make sense at this point—it’ll still be a life well lived, I believe, because everything will fall into place.”

Heart underlines the importance of women gaining power and authority over their own bodies in her story.

“I feel like this alone is transforming me as a person,” she asserts, “I’m sticking up for myself.”

“It’s liberating to make decisions based on what I want rather than what other people desire; it’s altered me drastically.”

The actress is currently in Europe and intends to purchase an apartment in Paris.

Rumors about her marital issues arose earlier this month, but she and the senator have neither confirmed nor denied them.
