The second Barangay Resilience Exchange Forum Event is being held by Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation, Inc. (CLFI), the corporate social responsibility division of the world’s largest provider of microfinance services, to highlight the significance of multi-stakeholder partnerships in creating resilient communities in the face of natural and man-made calamities.

BRX2022, the first and only digital conference of its kind in the Philippines, offers a forum for sharing best practices between local communities and connecting community leaders, multi-sectoral groups, and private organizations to provide crucial support in crisis situations and during natural disasters.

This year’s conference, with the slogan “Ang Handang Barangay, Mahusay!,” emphasizes the significance of collaboration and coordination among the government, business organizations, NGOs, and the community in order to survive and grow in the wake of a significant tragedy.

Disaster Resilience is one of our main thrusts as it impacts the safety, security, and livelihood of the very communities we serve. Through BRX2022, and with the assistance of our partner institutions, our hope is that our barangay leaders will acquire useful knowledge. “The second staging of the BRX2022 maintains CLFl’s focus in emphasizing the value of public-private and community collaboration,” says Jonathan Batangan, First Vice President and Executive Director of CLFI.We are fortunate that the government and the organizations that set the standard for disaster planning, mitigation, response, rehabilitation, and recovery across the disaster risk reduction and management value chain have backed us.

With the help of the government’s Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the BRX Forum this year provides two days of online learning thanks to the number of agencies that signed up to contribute their expertise. Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. of the DILG and Secretary Renato Solidum of the Department of Science and Technology are among the speakers who will be featured most prominently (DOST). Dr. Alfredo Mahar Lagmay, the executive director of UP Resilience, and others also contributed their knowledge on the first day of the two-day program.
