Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 69 issued a commitment order for actor-TV personality Vhong Navarro to be held in Taguig City Jail.
This is in connection with Deniece Cornejo’s rape case, which he is investigating.
On November 15, 2022, during the 24 Hours of GMA, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said that it has received documents for the It’s Showtime host’s transfer to a regular cell.
Vhong was notified of the health protocol requirements.
Vhong was arrested and detained at the National Bureau of Investigation Detention Facility on September 19 for a rape in which he was involved with model Deniece.
Deniece’s camp had earlier requested that Vhong be transferred to the Taguig City Jail because his cases were filed there.
Aside from the rape, Vhong is also facing the acts of lasciviousness charge, which Deniece has not dropped.
The Metropolitan Trial Court, Branch 116 issued the first arrest warrant on September 19 in connection with Deniece’s acts of lasciviousness complaint.
On the same day, the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 69 issued an arrest warrant in connection with Deniece’s ongoing rape case.
Vhong must be imprisoned since the rape case is not bailable.
Meanwhile, once the indictment was read, Vhong did not enter a plea, therefore the court entered a not guilty plea for him on October 11.
On the other side, Vhong’s complaint of significant illegal detention against the group of Cedric Lee and Deniece Cornejo is still being heard.
Vhong’s legal counsel announced on November 7 that the Court of Appeals denied Cedric’s camp’s plea to dismiss the serious illegal detention case.
That has to do with Vhong’s claim that Cedric’s group bound, beaten, detained, and attempted to take money from him on the night of January 22, 2014 at Deniece’s condo unit.
