Sol Aragones proves one does not need government position to help

Sol Aragones emphasizes that no one requires a government position to benefit the community and society. After 9 years as a lawmaker, she was defeated in the 2022 elections after competing for Governor. Sol Aragones did not see it as a sign to abandon her goal and vision for our compatriots. Instead of abandoning her desire to serve others, Sol Aragones established her own charity, Alagang Sol. Aragones continues to serve individuals through her own charity.

Recently, the Sol Aragones Foundation joined forces with the Alagang Akay Foundation, which shares the same objective, to assist PWD people in Sta. Rosa, Laguna and Lucena City, Quezon. In honor of International Day for People with Disabilities 2022, the PWD-founded non-profit Alagang AKAY, in collaboration with the Sol Aragones Foundation, distributed a total of 1000 wheelchairs to PWDs and families in back-to-back activities conducted on December 4 at the Sta. Sta. Rosa Sports Complex Rosa, Laguna, and on December 6 in Lucena City, Quezon, at the Quezon Convention Center.

Alagang AKAY Ambassadors: Quality of Life, Dignity, Passion for Service

The celebrations were led by AKAY Ambassadors Dwight Bayona, a leg amputee and multi-sport
athlete who wears a mechanical leg and “Chef with No Hands” Marcel Apatan.

“Alagang AKAY is PWD-led and founded on a mission to uplift the quality of life and uphold the dignity of PWDs through a holistic approach that includes, direct care, education, livelihood, employment as well as opportunities for community service,”

Dwight Bayona

Bayona whose leg was crushed in an accident when he was 24 years old. The accident happened when he himself stopped to aid an earlier crash victim.
