Brother-duo ‘Spyros’ is ‘It’s Showtime’s first-ever ‘PINASikat’ Grand Champion

January 29, 2015 (QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES) –Former overseas Filipinos (OFs) and brothers Spyros were hailed as the first-ever grand champion of popular variety show “It’s Showtime’s” ‘PINASikat’ segment for their extraordinary tricks using the diabolo ( Chinese yoyo) in the talent competition’s grand finals aired January 24, Saturday on The Filipino Channel (TFC) worldwide. 

Brothers and college students Marc and Marco Betito won Php 1 million and a house and lot, after showing off their moves in their breathtaking performance, the only one that received a standing ovation from judges Zsa Zsa Padilla, Iza Calzado, Sunshine Cruz, Epy Quizon, Nikki Valdez, Myrtle Sarrosa, Bayani Agbayani, Pooh, Arjo Atayde, Meg Imperial, Matt Evans, Abra, Jimmy Bondoc, Bangs Garcia, Arron Villaflor, Dominic Ochoa, Assunta de Rossi, Gino Padilla, Precious Lara Quigaman, and resident judge and host Jhong Hilario. 

They also left the audience roaring and cheering and got a perfect score of 10. The brothers, who grew up in New York, U.S.A., came home to the Philippines to learn more about their Filipino heritage and share their talent with their kababayans. Spyros beat all 15 grand finalists from different parts of the Philippines to become the first-ever grand champion of the talent segment, which ran for five months. 

“It’s Showtime’s” highly anticipated ‘PINASikat’ grand finals also recorded a Philippine TV rating of 18.4% across urban and rural homes in the Philippines, beating its rival programs in other networks, according to Kantar Media Philippines (television audience measurement provider). The ‘PINASikat’ grand finals also earned thousands of hits on TFC’s official online service – TFC.tv. 

Right before the explosive ending to the ‘PINASikat’ segment, the Philippines’ number one noontime show also launched the “Face 3” of its hit and well-loved segment, ‘Kalokalike’ to search for people who can best imitate popular local and foreign celebrities based on appearance, behavior, and performance. In the next few weeks, viewers are expected to support ‘Kalokalike’ the same way they did for ‘PINASikat.’
