On April 30 2016, Sef Cadayona had a charity birthday celebration with members of the Dumagat tribe, an ethnic group residing in Barangay San Mateo, Norzagaray, Bulacan. Sef made the day very memorable for the Dumagat tribe by interacting with them via a series of activities. Some of those activities were games, a fun dance number, and a gift giving session. Sef also gave an inspiring speech to the students of the Dumagat tribe. He encouraged them to reach for their dreams, to not let their present financial situation hinder them from reaching their goals.

Another highlight of the party was the presentation of Sef’s special gift to the Dumagat tribe: a water filtration system that has the capacity to convert deep-well water, (which is the community’s only source of water,) to a reservoir of clean and potable water. The presentation was followed by a live demonstration of the water filtration system. Several elders of the Dumagat tribe participated in the demonstration.

The water filtration system project was produced and executed with the help of SPIN Project, a non-governmental organization that aims to provide clean and potable drinking water to remote communities through a solar powered water filtration system. Once installed, the water filtration system of SPIN can filter up to 2400 glasses of drinking water with minimal maintenance. SPIN Project’s founder, Frederick Epistola, was also present at the live demonstration of the water filtration system to the Dumagat tribe.

The event was made possible with the help of the NGOs Pink Women on Fire and SPIN Project. Special thanks to Brother Martin of the Dumagat tribe.
