No matter how big or how small, each one of us need support in any time it is necessary. And our police and military forces and other law enforcers, are not exempted.
However, it would be unfortunate if just for childish reasons that the supposed help that one could extend will be hold off or worst, terminated.
This is what happened in Marikina City when Mayor Marcelino Teodoro stopped in a day the gas allowances of the local police in his area of responsibility.
PNP National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Major General Guillermo Eleazar confirmed that the LGU official in Eastern Police District (EPD) who called out by PNP Chief General Oscar Albayalde is Mayor Teodoro. Apparently, Mayor Teodoro cut the allowance for the police when he was not informed with the reshuffle of the chief of police in Marikina City.
Under the law, local chief executives may choose who will be appointed as chief of police in their area from the list of officers recommended by the PNP. But the PNP Chief can appoint an officer in charge until the Mayor named the next local chief of police.
Did Marikina City Mayor acted Childish?
I agree with the top brasses of the PNP, it’s childish. They are supposed to act a team and act as one, regardless of who appointed the chief of police. It shouldn’t have been a big issue to Mayor Teodoro and led him to withdrew support to his local police. This is not helpful at all. While he returned the gas allowance a day after, it was not the same percentage as before. Still, can’t get over it, Sir? There is nothing wrong when the PNP Chief assigned an acting official, at least there is not vacuum in the leadership of Marikina City Police.
Why should LGU’s cooperate with PNP?
LGU’s should be really in line with the PNP and they should be as one in their intention to minimize, stop criminalities and illegal drugs in the country.
LGU should be very welcoming with the PNP and the last thing they should do is to be against with them especially if everyone knows it’s for the betterment and if it’s for the people, like how it’s always should, for the people. Personal issues and personal interests shouldn’t be involved here.
