The 25-year-old Chai Fonacier stands out in the forthcoming horror film Nocebo’s trailer.
Nocebo is apparently a co-production between Ireland and the Philippines, starring French actress Eva Green.
It depicts the tale of Christine (Green), a fashion designer who struggles with a disease that her physicians are unable to diagnose.
She is introduced to traditional folk healing by her Filipino nanny Diana (Fonacier), who surprises both her and her husband by making her feel better.
But as Diana seizes control of Christine and they both get mired in occultism, things start to go wrong.
Filipino internet users praised Chai’s portrayal of the kind and dependable nanny and the allegedly mysterious and cunning folk healer after the entire trailer for Nocebo, which was released earlier today, October 4, 2022.
Although she was trying to give her little child some type of security when she said, “I will be with you, always,” the manner she said it made it seem ominous.

Netizens commented on the trailer’s comments area, praising Chai’s performance and pointing out her Bisaya accent. She is a Bisaya who was reared in Cebu but was born in Cagayan de Oro.
Additionally, internet users suggested that her character may be a mambabarang or mangkukulam, the Filipino term for a sorcerer or witch who uses rituals and insects.
Chai has nothing but praise from Nocebo’s 42-year-old lead actress, Eva Green, who is well-known in Hollywood as a Bond girl and Tim Burton’s muse.
Eva shared a picture of herself and Chai from the Nocebo set in Dublin back in April 2021.
She wrote in the post, “My beautiful co-star @chaifonacier and I from the movie NOCEBO that we are currently filming, directed by the brilliant @lorcanfinnegan.
“Chai is genuinely a superb performer with tremendous depth and empathy. She was also a fantastic partner; she completely blew me away!
