The Viva Artists Agency (VAA) has declared its support for its talent, actress Debbie Garcia, who is reportedly suing fellow actress Barbie Imperial following an October 28 encounter.
Barbie is accused of injuring Debbie during the incident, which took place at a Quezon City bar. On November 2, CCTV footage of the event became viral online.
VAA stands behind Debbie and claimed it did not condone violence in a statement released on November 2. Without name Barbie, the statement stated that Debbie intends to sue her assailant.
“Debbie is scheduled to file a complaint against the other individual on November 2, 2022 (Wednesday) with the assistance of her attorney,” it stated.
“VAA feels Debbie has been the victim of physical and verbal abuse in the aforementioned event,” it said, urging the public to refrain from sharing recordings of the incident on social media and instead “let the case to be settled lawfully.”
Debbie filed three accusations against Barbie with the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office, according to Pep: mild bodily harm, grave vocal defamation, and grave slander.
She allegedly submitted the lawsuit in person, accompanied by her legal counsel, on November 2 about 1 p.m.
Barbie has yet to openly address the issue.
