In a poignant Instagram post on Thursday, November 30, actress Kathryn Bernardo officially confirmed the news that fans of the beloved KathNiel loveteam had been anticipating for months—she and actor Daniel Padilla are no longer a couple.
Captioning an old photo of herself with Daniel, the 27-year-old actress declared, “Chapter closed,” expressing a desire for everyone to move forward. She added, “I won’t be entertaining questions regarding this anymore. Thank you for understanding.”
The post also featured a more extended statement from Kathryn, acknowledging the genuine and significant connection they shared. She shared, “What Deej and I had was real. It was never for show… These are 11 years that brought me joy, adventure, and the feeling of being home. He was my first boyfriend. I will always have love for him.”
Addressing their dedicated KathNiel fanbase directly, Kathryn empathized with their pain and urged them to join in the healing process, concluding with a resilient, “Kaya natin ‘to”
In a direct message to Daniel, she expressed gratitude, saying, “Deej, you gave me 11 beautiful years and the kind of love that I will forever cherish. I will always be grateful for you.”
Shortly after Kathryn’s post, Daniel responded with his own Instagram photo and statement, expressing gratitude for the shared experiences and acknowledging the challenges ahead. He affirmed, “Our lives may drift away, but our love will still ride that tide.”
Kathryn and Daniel, who first collaborated in the series Growing Up in 2011, have since become an iconic love team, starring in numerous successful projects, including the 2014 film She’s Dating the Gangster and the 2018 film The Hows of Us. Their most recent collaboration was the 2023 series 2 Good 2 Be True.
Despite the emotional farewell, fans can anticipate a reunion, as the pair is set to star in a new movie helmed by long-time directing partner Cathy Garcia-Molina, scheduled for release in 2024.
