SM Supermalls and Malayan Colleges Laguna along with the Department of Tourism launched “Kitchen Masters” recently at SM Sta. Rosa. Kitchen Masters will be a cooking battle of Chefs with Apprentices with the aim of highlighting Laguna’s best chefs and Laguna products as main ingredient.

Chef Karen Villaflor
Currently a Sous Chef at Buttero, an Italian and Bistro at Taguig City for 2 years, project-based consultant for 3 years at Universal Harvester Inc.
Chef Cherriza Canlas Filamor
Proprietor / Caterer of Eat Creative Catering Services for 15 years.
Chef Emmanuel Recio
Owner of Le Chef Emmanuel French and Italian Cuisine at Santa Cruz Laguna.
Chef Von Byron Ebron Head
Chef & Operations Manager of Bonitos Bar and Restaurant, Catering by Bonitos, Head Chef of Amorita Buffet Restaurant & Events Place
Chef Roel Rodrigo
Assistant professor at Malayan Colleges Laguna, Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Management, MBA and Cum Laude of Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management in UST in 1996.
Along with these Chefs are Apprentices from Malayan Colleges who are taking culinary, they are divided into groups with one head chef per group.
The cooking battle will take place in Malayan Colleges, they will be using school facilities used in Culinary.
The Competition
Each team will be given the challenge to prepare and cook (3 dishes)
- Appetizer, entree or main course using duck (itik) as main ingredient
- Pasta using kesong puti as main ingredient
- Salad using fiddlehead fern (Paco leaves)

Professional Serving Methods – 50 points
Taste – 40 points
Teamwork – 10 points

The winning team will be announced on April 17 at the activity Center of SM City Sta. Rosa, don’t miss it!
