OPINION: Tabi Po The Series might be better than La Luna Sangre
“Tabi Po”, tells the story of Elias, a neophyte aswang. Born from a tree during the country’s Spanish era, Elias embarks on a journey with two older aswangs, Tasyo and Sabel, in the quest to understand their true nature. Along the way, Elias meets Salome, a sex slave of the friars, and falls in love with her. In the middle of a rising revolution, Elias is forced to face his own battles — his love for Salome bersus his hunger for flesh, the growing rift between himself and Tasyo, the society’s stigma with aswangs, and the battle with his own inner demons.
From a graphic novel before by Mervin Malonzo, now Tabi Po is adapted into TV masterpiece directed by Paul Basinillo.
Tabi Po stars a powerhouse cast led by Luis “Adrian” Alandy as Tasyo, Phoebe Walker as Sabel, Jourdanne Castillo as Salome and AJ Muhlach as Elias.

There have been numerous of TV shows, or movies involving the topics of “Aswang” or human-eating creatures like Wolf or Vampires but “Tabi Po” The series can be the most carefully and artistically done.
Opinion: Tabi Po The Series might be better than La Luna Sangre
With no intention to put down La Luna Sangre, and with all due respect here’s the reason why:
La Luna Sangre is definitely a beautiful show, there’s no attest to that BUT, A kind of show that requires such good graphics like La Luna Sangre, we must admit that Filipino Film makers are not yet that capable or not the forte atleast, that tends to viewers describe it as “corny” or “unconvincingly,” though kudos to the story, it’s just the graphics makes it not a perfect TV series.
www.My-Juicy.net witnesed the first twenty minutes of “Tabi Po The Series,” and what can I say but a mere perfection, in-tact theme, a very quality TV series.
From the opening credits, displaying a very moving visual effects(this kind of graphics may took forever to be rendered).
AJ Muhlach really love his acting craft he’s willing to do everything and displayed almost his wholeness in Tabi Po The Series.
Tabi Po The Series approach with the graphics is honest! according to direk Paul Basinillo, since they are dealing with aswang characters and admittedly they cannot project a decent graphics for it, they’ve just decided to not do it all so they make aswang characters to be in just “human form” that eats human. For me I’d prefer this than to watch a supposed to be graphically series, because how ever the story is beautiful, the failed graphics would drag its quality as a TV or a film. What Tabi Po The series did instead is in the prosthetics part, they are displaying the full act of the aswang eating the fleshes that makes it moving, realistc and convincingly!
Also the themesong of “Tabi Po The Series” really blends perfectly with the series and is a superb ang catchy! — Mi Amore by Nicole O and (watch from )
Luis Alandy‘s role is perfect for him, every Filipino role is perfect for Luis Alandy because he can be a perfect representation of a Filipino, and he act good as well in Tabi Po The Series.
Phoebe Walker improves on her acting and speaking tagalog compared in her acting in “Double Barrel” film.
Maybe the theme of “Tabi Po The Series” is not for everybody but it doesn’t make it a less of a good show. We are commenting that we are so tired of the mainstream TV show, and here you go! “Tabi Po The Series” is the TV series you’ve been waiting for! So don’t miss its premiere on October 27, on Sari Sari channel on Cignal TV!
