Announcement of Official MMFF 2022 Submissions:
From a record-breaking total of 22 film submissions, the 48th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has selected the eight official entries that will screen during the festival.
Artistic excellence (40 percent), commercial appeal (40 percent), Filipino cultural values (10 percent), and global appeal (10 percent) were used by the esteemed members of the Selection Committee led by the multi-awarded and much respected leader of the film industry Boots Anson-Rodrigo to determine the Top 8.
Eight films have been officially selected for the 2022 MMFF.

According to Rodrigo, the members of the selection committee gave careful consideration to each submission before making their final decisions.
Rodrigo explained that the consensus was reached through “collegial discussion” among the group.
The message for this year is “The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and MMFF Concurrent Acting Chairman Engr. Carlo Dimayuga III released a joint statement titled “Balik Saya sa MMFF 2022” pleading with moviegoers to return to the festival, which has become an annual part of the Filipino Christmas celebration.

The 48th edition of the MMFF will return to cinemas around the country from December 25, 2022, to January 7, 2023, provided that the necessary safety precautions are taken.
