Inka Magnaye, a popular TikTok creator, was just in Singapore for a week and was so overjoyed that she couldn’t hold back the emotions.
Her first international journey was also the first time she heard her voice-over for Philippine Airlines’ in-flight entertainment system.
On Wednesday, October 19, 2022, one of Inka’s fans said to her, “Mukha kang mayaman na afford magtravel,” and Inka announced the news in a TikTok video.
Because it is a luxury rather than a necessity, Inka “can’t afford” to take trips right now.
The voice actor, who is 33 years old, said, “Just the thought of going somewhere new fills me with excitement.
“Afterwards, I prepare for transportation to the airport, lodging, meals, incidentals, and finally, pasalubong.
“Even though I know that seeing the world will benefit me, I just cannot afford to pay for this trip on my own.
“In my mind, the cost of getting there and back amounts to a month’s worth of rent at this point. In terms of groceries, I would just need to budget for meals and lodging on that vacation.
“I can put my transportation and pocket money toward my debts.”
After taking on the role of breadwinner at such a young age, Inka made it a point to put her family’s necessities ahead of her own desire to see the world.
For example, she said, “Something that occurred to me when I was a youngster causes me to reflect on these issues.
“You may recall that I told you guys a kuwento about how my parents’ store burnt down and how we were forced to homeschool since we couldn’t afford regular education.
“As you may know, I had to drop out of school.
“Thus, I believe that this experience has made me acutely conscious of the obligations that I now have as an adult.
“Again, I’m the main breadwinner in my family, so I need to consider these things in addition to paying the payments that are already due.

“To prepare for the unexpected, such as an emergency, I need to set aside some funds. So, unfortunately, I can’t go anywhere right now.”
In addition, Inka shared that she seldom ever gets any new outfits.
“I buy new clothes perhaps once a quarter, if that often.
I only just bought new pairs of underwear, but I have underwear that must be at least two decades old and is already full of holes.
Saving enough for a vacation is made more difficult by the fact that she is a self-employed freelancer.
It’s more difficult for her to plan ahead with money that doesn’t come in on a regular basis, and she speculated that this was because she was self-employed and didn’t receive a steady paycheck every 15 days.
Inka mentioned that she traveled to several locations in the Philippines during her stay.
However, she was able to go on these out-of-town excursions because of her family or her job.
“Like, when I was younger, my grandma footed the bill for a trip to Cebu during which I saw my extended relatives.
“However, my visits to Boracay and Davao were business-related. The client therefore footed the bill for this.
I’m on a business trip to Singapore, and the Singapore Tourism Board is footing the bill, so I won’t have to worry about spending any of my own money on the trip (which will include both business and pleasure activities).
In contrast, Inka made it clear that she appreciates traveling when it is done economically.
For example, she and her pals often visit Tagaytay and other nearby beach spots where they may pitch tents instead of staying in a hotel.
“To the extent that my budget allows it, I do attempt to see the world.
“Since I want to make the most of my time in the Philippines, I enjoy travelling to Tagaytay and discovering its hidden gems.
“In addition, I usually carpooled with my pals to save money on petrol whenever I went to the beach, even before the epidemic hit.
“In order to save money, we would also search for camping locations.
“Like, actual camping, with a tent and sleeping bags and everything. It’s a lot of fun, so that’s why.”
Inka has admitted that she must put in more time and effort at work in order to save money for future adventures.
I’m going to keep working hard so that someday I can afford to travel, but in the meanwhile, I’m grateful for chances like this one and the wonderful locations we have close to home.
