Are you wondering why Maxene Magalona made it to the worldwide trends on micro-blogging site Twitter on Monday? The 27-year-old actress, to the surprise of ABS-CBN viewers, debuted on “It’s Showtime” as a guest judge that day, sitting alongside mainstay Jhong Hilario and actress Jessy Mendiola. Magalona, one of eight children of late OPM icon Francis Magalona with wife Pia, has been identified with GMA-7 since 2001. “Sa lahat ng mga Kapamilya na nanonood, nais ko lang magpakilala,” she said, after being introduced by “It’s Showtime” co-host Karylle as a “hurado” for the week. “Ako po si Maxene Magalona. Hello!” Magalona readily performed a “sample” when urged by co-host Billy Crawford and the audience. She sang parts of her father’s hit, “Cold Summer Nights,” with altered lyrics as a tribute to the late rapper. Moments after Magalona was introduced on the show, her name zoomed up as a trending topic on Twitter locally and, later, worldwide.
